Raymond Gordon Memorial Scholarship


The Raymond Gordon Memorial Scholarship is established in dedication to the memory of Raymond Gordon past Board member of Three Rivers Adoption Council.  In 2003, Mr. Gordon was elevated to Board member emeritus until his death on 12/22/05.  Mr. Gordon’s life was dedicated to the betterment of people throughout the world.  He was committed to assisting in the “remarkable ingenuity of people bent on survival and the unwavering work of social workers who often perform monumental tasks under deteriorating conditions”.

Eligibility
To be eligible to receive this scholarship applicants must:

  • Have been adopted from the Child Welfare system and residing in western Pennsylvania.  Alternate forms of permanency are also accepted (e.g. long term foster care, kinship, legal custodial/guardianship, independent living) ~and~
  • Be a graduating high school senior who has been accepted to an institution for higher education or who is currently enrolled in a post high school educational program ~and~ 
  • Have a minimum GPA of 2.0 

Application Process

  • Print a copy of the Ray Gordon Memorial Scholarship Application Instructions

  • Complete an application form (can also be obtained by contacting Bridget Clement)

  • Essay (500 words)

  • Two (2) letters of reference (1 reference from a teacher/ counselor preferred)
  • Applications must be received no later than May 15th, 2008.

Awardees will be notified on or before May 30, 2008.  Award presentations will be made during TRAC’s Annual Meeting Friday June 13, 2007       

All checks will be made payable to the awardees and their institution of higher learning.
