Volunteer Opportunities

Would you like to really make a difference in a child’s life?  What about helping others understand adoption and foster care issues by meeting with a community group?  Or working directly with a staff member to help a child find the special home he or she is looking for?

You don’t need to be an adoption specialist to make a BIG difference in a child’s life.  You DO need a caring heart and a little bit of time to devote to a very good cause.  Not sure of how your skills fit with TRAC’s needs?  Don’t worry – all volunteers receive appropriate training and support from TRAC’s experienced staff before, and during, an assignment.

Below are the Volunteer Positions we’re trying to fill.  If one of these profiles describes YOU, and you’d really like to make a difference, please call TRAC (412-471-8722). Be sure to include your telephone number – we’d very much like to talk to you about how you can make a difference to TRAC’s kids and families.

The Family Connections Program is searching for 3 to 5 active, fun-loving adults to participate in TRAC’s family-centered Chat-n-Chill evenings at East Liberty Presbyterian Church.  Volunteers will interact with children from ages 3 to 14 whose parents are attending the “chat” sessions in a separate room.  Activities may include games, arts-and-crafts projects, and indoor sports.

Chat-n-Chill events are held from 6 to 8 p.m. on the 2nd and 4th Mondays of each month from September through May.   All Chat-n-Chill evenings begin with a light dinner, which volunteers are cordially invited to attend to meet the families.

Individuals best suited to this volunteer position would:
• have a bright, out-going people-oriented personality
• love to communicate and connect with children
• be able to commit to a regular schedule (not necessarily a large number of hours, but a steady schedule)
• have Act 33-34 and FBI clearances

If you’re that special individual, and want to make a difference, please call TRAC (412-471-8722) and ask for Kelly Ryan-Schmidt, or send an email expressing your interest and availability to: krschmidt@3riversadopt.org.
